Ingredients
- 1 medium sized tomato, finely chopped
- 1 green chilli, slit
- few curry leaves
- ½ tsp turmeric
- 1 cup tamarind extract
- salt to taste
- 2 cups water, adjust consistency
- 1 tsp pepper
- 2 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped
- Tempering: 1 tsp Ghee, 1/2 tsp mustard seeds, 1 whole red chilli
Directions
- Grind cumin seeds, pepper and garlic for a few seconds in a mixer.
- To the tamarind extract, add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, crushed pepper, cumin, garlic, chilli, salt and curry leaves. Boil them together and let it simmer for 10-15 mins
- Heat a tsp of ghee and add mustard seeds to it. When it begins to splutter, add the red chilli, curry leaves and pour it over the Rasam.
- Ready to serve!
