Quick Pepper Rasam

Ingredients

  • 1 medium sized tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 green chilli, slit
  • few curry leaves
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • 1 cup tamarind extract
  • salt to taste
  • 2 cups water, adjust consistency
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • Tempering: 1 tsp Ghee, 1/2 tsp mustard seeds, 1 whole red chilli

Directions

  1. Grind cumin seeds, pepper and garlic for a few seconds in a mixer.
  2. To the tamarind extract, add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, crushed pepper, cumin, garlic, chilli, salt and curry leaves. Boil them together and let it simmer for 10-15 mins
  3. Heat a tsp of ghee and add mustard seeds to it. When it begins to splutter, add the red chilli, curry leaves and pour it over the Rasam.
  4. Ready to serve!
